Hey Disney friends, welcome back to the Rope Drop and Run podcast. I'm Jenny and I'm Emily. Today's episode is for anyone prepping for a race weekend, but especially if you're heading to a Run Disney event. Because packing for a Run Disney race isn't the same as packing for a normal race or a normal Disney trip.

Disney races.

Jenny

We are two Canadian sisters who love every Disney adventure from travel with family to running marathons. On today's show, we're talking about our raced weekend must-haves. Everything from what's in our suitcase to our run belt. Alright, let's start today's episode with a quick definition that came up in our last episode, which I missed. And I think we were so good at stopping and defining some of those Disney terms that can be a little unusual or unfamiliar. So for my good friend Susan, and for you listener, in case you aren't aware of what Disney bounding is, let us fill you in. Really, Disney bounding is a way of dressing for the parks or for a Run Disney race that is in the style of a character. So it's not like you're actually wearing a costume necessarily, but you're wearing the colors of or maybe an accessory or a piece that gives you the idea that you are wearing you are that character. Oh yeah. So for example, if somebody was going to Disney bound like Cinderella, instead of having a ball gown and an updo, they might they might wear light blue or some silver, just some like sort of the colors that nod to that character. Or if they were going to be Belle, that might be some wearing yellow, like a uh maybe a yellow sundress. And then a rose necklace or something, or Cinderella, you might be wearing all light blue t-shirt and white shorts or something, and then you have a black hairband in, and if you had blonde hair, you might put it in a bun or something, but you're not dressing up like a in a costume, you're just dressing in the vibe of that character. Yeah. So and I think this is an important one to define for today because we're gonna talk a little bit about what's in our suitcase for a Run Disney weekend, and I am definitely Disney banding. Okay, so today we're talking all about what's in our suitcase and what's in our run belt when we go to Disney for a Run Disney event. Emily, let's start with what is in your run belt? Okay, well, my run belt has officially morphed into various different versions depending on the race, but nowadays I use a hydration pack, like one of those ones. It's like a little mini backpack and it has a water bladder in the back of it. And so clearly I take water. Some people will run a race and and not carry any water with them because they have water stations along the route. But I always like to have water with me so I can take a sip as I go. And uh so in my hydration pack, I always take my phone. And my I take my phone whether I'm on a training run or a race, but especially it's useful on a Run Disney event because my phone also acts as my camera. So I can snap photos with the characters or take pictures of the scenery, like coming up to you know, Main Street USA. I might take a little video of last time when when you two were running ahead. I took a video of you guys running ahead with the castle in the background. That was nice. Yeah, so I always have my phone, but not only for for using it as a camera, it's also there was one point that we kind of got separated a little bit. We got kind of jostled around in the crowd, and I didn't know if I ended up ahead of you or behind you, or I just I couldn't find you. And so it would be good to have that as, you know, we eventually like just found each other again. I don't think we had to call or text, or did we? Anyhow, I don't think so, but I know what you're talking about because there are some places where the course narrows and it gets really crowded, especially because we were stuck in with that one. We were stuck in with a paste group. And so we kind of got separated. But it would be handy still to have your phone in case you really got separated. Yeah. The other part is I always listen to music when I'm running, not so much when I'm at a Run Disney event, but for some reason I'm a little bit of a creature of well, just in case, I'm gonna bring these just in case. So I always bring my earbuds in case there's like a quiet time, which is not gonna happen on a Run Disney event. I know what you mean though, but I have them just in case. Just in case. Like it's I if I do. So that's what I use when I'm when I'm in a practice run, but and then also I have all of my what I would call nutrition. Now, those things like the electrolytes and sugar inputs that you need every half hour or so. So I'm carrying the the gels and the gummies, the ones that I like the most. I like the the chocolate flavored or the salted caramel-flavored gels of that the goo brand ones. Love those, yummy. And then I really like stingers if you're looking for different brands. They're these gummy, like kind of like jube jubes, but they also have some electrolytes in them. And uh, I like them because they don't get stuck in your teeth so much, you know. Some of them you just and yet, and then you're working it out for the next 10 minutes. But and then I find like at the end of the marathon, when I just I'm chewing on those things and they're stuck in my teeth, and I've had so much sugar, and it's like I just want to eat some poutine. Yeah, you know it's something you can actually like bite and chew, not just not just gooey things. But speaking of lung, like so you need sugar and electrolytes, you need to replace those as you're running like the longer, the longer runs, like the half marathon or the marathon. And so even though I'm carrying the you know, the hydration pack, so I have water on my back, I still will bring a flask, a a water flask that's filled with like Gatorade or some other usually I pick Gatorade, but it might be some other kind of electrolyte drink. Like I used to wear a running belt that had two water bottles, and one water bottle would be for water, and one would be for my my Gatorade. So now I just use smaller flasks and I kind of shove them in the various different pockets of the of the hydration belt. But so, like I said, they have the they have the different water stations and Gatorade stations or Power Aid, I think is what is a Run Disney event. They have them all along the route, so you don't have to, but I always like just having it with me because just in case. I know I do too. I'm just gonna jump in there while you're talking about water and electrolytes because I'm the same as you. I used to have the two water bottle run belt, and I'd have one water and one electrolyte, and then I switched to the camelback, and now I can't even remember what I did last time. I'm pretty sure I put electrolyte in my camelback. Oh, really? Not just pure water. Yeah, because I think I decided I was gonna drink water at the stations. Here's why, because I'm not the whole thing about don't do anything that you haven't trained to do, or like don't eat the things if you haven't trained them. So even the gate, like even the electrolyte that they give out, I'm not sure if it's something I will have had before. And so I carry my own electrolyte and then I drink the water because I feel like that's pretty safe. I think that's I think that's really good advice because you can have one brand and it works fine for you, and then try another brand and it just doesn't sit well in your stomach, or you you really don't like the taste, or whatever. It could just or a different formula, and so you're not getting what you're used to. So who knows how it's gonna set you off and when you've got a long way to go. I think that's good advice. Sorry, I interrupted. What else? Oh no, that's good. So I also because just in case, maybe I was a you know, girl guide, you come prepared. I always have a couple of pieces of physiotape. So I have bad knees, and sometimes my knees bother me more than others. And sometimes I go into the run with my knees taped with physio tape just for a little extra support. But I bring a couple of pieces that are pre-cut to the size that I might need, and just it's really, you know, small, doesn't take that much space, and I have those folded in into my pack as well. And along the same lines as kind of just in case, I also bring a couple of of tissues, like some Kleenex, because you I don't know, it's cold out, your nose might run, or even just to have like when you're talking with you know those gooe gels that you they can be really messy, and sometimes you get the little sticky fingers, you get them on your hands, and so you can use the Kleenex just to wipe yourself up, you know, use your little water bottle and you know, clean yourself up because it it can be really uncomfortable, even just the littlest things like sticky fingers can get annoying. So Kleenex can come in handy. Can do all kinds of other things like clean your glasses off when they get covered in rain. Oh, true. Yeah, I just use various my t-shirt. Yeah, I think I did too, but I put something on my list for cleaning my glasses off when in case it rains. Because of the last time, because I can't I have to wear my glasses. Yeah, I can't see, so Kleenex could help, I guess. My t-shirt, it just kind of made it blurry, so oh I didn't realize that. Okay. So another thing I always carry in my pack, and this was I always have it in my pack more for when I'm out on the practice runs, training runs, not so much for race day, but I have an information and an emergency information card in my pack, and I just put it like on a little cue card, and it has my name, and it also has emergency contact name and their phone number in case something happens to me and I'm injured, I pass out or whatever. Now, on your bib, though that information is usually on you can write it on the back of your bib, but like I said, I already have it in my pack just for emergency sake. So I just leave it in there as well. So why take it out? And then also, now this isn't so much for a Run Disney event, but more like if I'm doing a race that I want to take seriously and I'm really trying to get like a you know, a goal time because the Run Disney events, my goal is to finish and to finish hopefully in front of the balloon ladies. So I do have somewhat of a goal. Upright and smiling, as they say. Finishing upright and smiling. Exactly, exactly. But you know, if somebody did have a goal, like a pace goal that they really wanted, for other runs that I've done, I've actually got like I make this little pace chart for myself and I break it down so like every kind of I section off the the race into maybe every three or five or even ten kilometer sections. So, and it has like at what kilometer will be what where I should be as far as a timeline goes if I'm running the pace that I wanted. So I tend to start off slow the first few first maybe two or three kilometers. I it's just like a little warm-up. And so I have on my little pace chart like this little like memory thing, and it's like says what my pace should be and also says what to think about. And in the first little bit, because you're so excited, you want to take off running, but I have whoa, like just just slow down, just warm up to it, don't go off too hard. And then the next section, I have you know, another relax or think about your arm swings, or just these little you know, tips and tricks that I want to think about throughout. And then near the end of the race, I have reminders like breathe and keep calm, and the last three kilometers of the race, I have in big bold lettering, you can do it, don't give up. So just it's it's a little like me talking to myself and just giving myself a little pep talk throughout. But it's it's funny because even though I know these things, having it written down and just looking at they're my own words, but just looking at it, it's like right, thanks, Emily. That's a good point. So I I would encourage others to do something similar because it really helped me on my on my runs. Do you put I see you have two of them there? Does one of them go in your in your race belt and then the other one goes around your wrist? Or I have one like I have this neat little wrist thing. No, it's just actually from a different two different races, and I have different I just kept them because the little souvenirs of my race. So one of them, one year I had it around this little wristband thing that I had, and and the other year I didn't wear the wristband, I just put it in my in my run belt so I could access it easily. Yeah. I like the wristband idea. Mm-hmm. Because you're not gonna is it attached onto that really well? Like I just wonder if you pulled that little slip out of your race belts. What if you dropped it? I know, right? That's just another thing around your wrist, though.

unknown

Yeah.

Jenny

I don't know. I feel I have my magic band on. I have my there's so many things on your wrist. You can have my Apple Watch. I like I I don't pack light, including on race day. I am not a light packer because I will have a Garmin on one side, like a Garmin watch on one arm, but then I also will have my like other watch. I have an Apple watch and another arm because I'm totally about the gamification as far as apps go. And I use the Nike running app, and so I'll have the Nike Running app on my watch on one side, and then the Garmin on my other side, and it's it's too much. I get it, it's too much. But um and then add the wristband of my pace chart. Yeah. Well, it's I mean, it is what it is. You just have a lot of things on your wrists. Yeah, I do too, though. I have my Apple Watch, my magic band on one side, and then my Garmin on the other. I don't know. There are just a lot of things on your hands. Well, Charles would say, Charles would say that that's extra weight, like it all adds up, even if it's just like a part of a gram. Like it, you know, it it adds up and you have to carry it. It's true. So there is that idea, like especially with all the water, you know, it that's extra weight that you're running with then. But like I said, for me, I like the security of knowing I have water when I want it. And yeah, and you don't have to wait for the next station. And then there's okay, so then there's one other thing that I sometimes have in my pack and sometimes I don't. But I have I've made these little arm sleeves, and you can buy arm sleeves at the race expos, at the at the sporting stores, the running stores, and they're very expensive. But I've made cheap versions out of old stockings, like old tights, like just that I'd wear under my skirts. So once the once I get like a hole in the toe of my stockings, yeah, I cut the legs off like from the waistband and I cut the feet off so that you can wear like just the tubes as you're uh on your arms. And so they're like these arm sleeves, but then once you get hot, you can throw them out, and you don't feel bad because they're just old stockings that had a hole in the toe anyway. You were gonna throw them out anyway. Look at you recycling. Right. So I have those, and anyway, they don't take up much space, but it's another thing you're carrying, I guess, and managing. But anyway, those are some of the things in in my uh waist belt or water belt. What about you? Well, I think I have most of the same things as you. I definitely have gels and the kind that I like and the ones that I've trained with, and I know that they give them out at the race and they do tell you ahead of time what brand they're using and everything. So you could, in theory, practice with that brand and know what your tummy's gonna do and stuff when you're running eating that stuff. But I always just sort of stick with the brand that I like. So I bring all my gels. I also put little packages of salt, you know, the little paper packs of salt you can get with your coffee, or not with your coffee, but like if like fast food restaurants. Like at a fast food restaurant or something. I'll put a couple of packages of those in my run belt too. Because I don't know, I find that sometimes I get a little weird about the hydration by the end of the marathon and my fingers swell up. And someone told me once that was because I was taking on too much water and not enough salt. And so I find the salt, and there's not that nothing bad is gonna happen if you throw a salt pack in your mouth. The only thing that could happen is it might level out your electrolytes a little better if I haven't done a very good job of that. So I put those in my in my run belt. I also have my credit card just in case. Oh yeah, I do. I bring like I bring in $20 bills in case I need to get a taxi ride home. I have a yeah, even at the Run Disney race, I have a $20 bill or like I have some cash and I have my credit card. I know you I can use my phone, which I have in my run belt, but what if my phone dies? I'm not carrying a charger with me. No, so you know, what if, just in case? I'd you also bring my driver's license. If I was in Canada, I'd bring my health card too. But I just have an idea. I know that your run number has you put your information on the back of it, and then they also have it all stored electronically so they know who your person to call is and stuff like that. But I just feel I just need those. So just a like you said, like it's it's a security blanket. And it's been in there anyway. So that's the other part. Maybe it's a superstition thing that we've been training with these hydration packs or water belts or whatever the case was, and we had them in there during all of our training runs. And so it really doesn't take up much space, and somehow it feels like, well, it's been training with me and it's provided me good. Like I haven't needed to use it yet. So it's a little bit superstitious, so you don't want to mess with it. I also have a little first aid kit, so it's got a few things in it, like some band-aids and a bit of gauze and some scissors, and like oh really? Yeah, that okay. It's a tiny, like about 15 by 15 centimeters, and it's not very big, but it's got a few things in it. And I've had to use it on training runs before for other people, and I just leave that in my run belts. I've never had to use it on a run, but it's there. I also have a little travel size anti-chafing stick. Body glide. I found at the drugstore where you buy all your little travel size shampoos and stuff that they had body glide. So I put that in my run belt. And I think oh, I have an extra hair elastic too, just in case. That's a good idea. Don't you also sometimes bring gum or mints? Oh, yeah, I do. Yeah, because I just yeah, at the end of the race, like I was saying, like all that sugar, yeah, all those, and by the end, I'm not eating the gels, the gooey ones anymore. By the end of the run, I tend to eat the that's when I'm eating the uh the gummy ones, so you're chewing ones. And then they get like sport beans or no, I I don't remember the brand. It's not beans, but it's like these little squares, and they're like gummies. Oh, I think they're gooe or chomps or something. Something. I don't I don't remember right now what brand it is, but I love them. Like they're they're tasty, and I like to be able to chew on something. Like, there's no way I could take another one of those gooey gel packs because I think I'd just be like, ah, it's yeah, too gross at that point. So I like to be able to chew on them, but they get stuck in my teeth, and there's just so much sugar in your mouth at that point that it's nice to like have some mint in your mouth and just freshen things up. I don't know why, it's like logical, I guess. But I wouldn't do that and not have trained doing that. I wouldn't even put a piece of gum in my mouth and not have practiced that. Because what if that minty uh flavor made you feel sick? I don't know. Yeah, nothing new on race day. Nothing new on race day. Yeah, when you're talking about like the things you get, you know, after you've been out there for hours and you've been having these sugary things that are supposed to be easily digestible, which they are, there's times you just want to bite something like proper food. Like even if it's not like we were talking about like pierogies or something like that, these little you know, bite-sized things, or you can get like wafer cookies or or even just cookies, you know, like it's more like I would crunch instead of something that's showing. Yeah, it's along the food lines to be really specific. I also have a little package of MM peanuts that and I like those because there's a little peanut inside, like you can crunch it and chew it and get a little bit of energy from it, and those I would wait. The end of the race to use, but I have those two. And I only am taking about like six MMs or something, maybe it's like really small, and they're shoved in all these little nooks and crannies of my pack. So can you find it? And like when they're giving out the chocolates in the marathon at the end, you know, where you're getting close to the end, that instead of having bananas and whatever other things they're giving you at the nutrition stations along the marathon, as you get close to the end, they start giving you chocolates. And I take the chocolates and I put them in my run belt and I save them until I'm done because I'm afraid to eat them. You know what's funny? When I just I went looking for my little wristband with my paste charts on it, because I'm like, what did I write on there? I just remember it really worked, and I think it really worked because I spent so long creating it. But I found uh one of the chocolates that they gave out. I guess I was just saving it because I do tend to hoard things. But yeah, I found one of the Run Disney chocolates that you get in the last five kilometers of the race. And no, I'm not gonna eat it now because it's so old, but you brought a little smile to my face. You used to save your Halloween candy. Oh yeah, I used to hide it from you and Sarah. Yeah, but we would find it and eat it. But you would like it would still be there at Christmas. And no, Christmas. I still had some at Easter. Oh, it's terrible. It was none of the good stuff, but you should just eat your candy. I like to like spread it out. Okay. So I think that's it for our hype our race belts, right? That's everything that's in my race belt that I can remember. I think that's everything for me too. What about what are you packing in your suitcase? Well, here are all the things. First of all, I'm gonna pack two pairs of running shoes, and I have trained in both pairs of running shoes, especially bringing two pairs of running shoes if I'm running more than one Disney race, like at the Dopey or something, because I'm gonna rotate my shoes. I'm not wearing the same shoes every day. If I'm not running more than one Disney race, I'm gonna have a second pair of running shoes. Or yeah, I'm gonna walk the parks in a different pair of running shoes. But I also have on my list here other shoes for walking the parks in. Yes. Because I don't want to walk around in the parks in my running shoes that I'm gonna run the marathon in until after the marathon's over, and then I don't care. I guess I just want to keep my shoes as fresh as possible and let the let the foam and stuff in them be fresh and not all squished from me walking around in them for 16 kilometers in the park day beforehand. I also have my favorite running socks, which I have trained in. I have two of them if I'm only running one Disney race, or I have however many races plus an extra pair. I always have an extra of everything, I feel like. My underwear, I have my best running underwear for however many I need plus an extra pair. I have two running bras, the ones that I have trained in and that I like to wear that don't cause me terrible chafing, whatever. So those are kind of all the basic sort of layers that I have packed, but then I also have running layers. So I have my shorts and or pants, depending on what the forecast is for that race weekend, and my what I need on my legs. I have my running t-shirt or and or long sleeve, depending on again what that forecast is like. I might wear both t-shirt and long sleeve and take the long sleeve off as the run progresses and need to like strip down a bit because it's getting too hot. And then I also have my Disney bounding run attire, which uh has maybe some little extras that aren't just clothing, like the orange singlet that we wore when we did the goofy bound. We had an orange singlet over top of our running shirts, and then we wore the goofy hat with the ears, and that was one Disney band we did, and then another one was the Mike Wazowski t-shirt. So my running pants were a green color, like I went out and found them like a lime green, like a lime green. I practiced running in them. I did not practice like a really long training run in them, which I probably should have done because I found during the marathon that they were slipping down. I was constantly hiking my pants up. So that was on me. And another really dumb rookie move that I made was that I wore t-shirt, like a running t-shirt underneath of my I had my run, my uh, my hydration pack over top of that. And then over top of that, I had a 2XL oversized Mike Wizowski t-shirt. But the t-shirt that I wore underneath, I had never run in before. Dude. I know, I can't believe I made such a terrible rookie mistake because the chafing that I got on my arms under here, like just under my the top part of my upper arm, like right on the underneath. Oh my god, it was so bad that in the last 10k of that marathon, I was like, I didn't even want to move my arms. The blood, like it was so bad. I remember coming out of that race. In the shower later, you must have been screaming. It was so bad. And I remember like showing Jim when we met up with Jim at the end of the race, and I was like, Oh, I was chafing, and he was like, Oh my god. It was it was bad, it was pretty gruesome. So I had all I had extra, though, really. In theory, I would have worn that shirt or I would have found a better shirt to wear as my base layer, which is just a running layer, but it was also a green color. So the colors were Mike Wazowski, but I was wearing running clothes. And then the t-shirt that went over the top was just a cotton t-shirt, which I knew that I could take off easily and I could still continue to run and have the Mike Wazowski colors on. But then I also had a cap that I made for myself, just a like a slouchy, it was a really comfortable cap with little horns on it. So I I make sure that I have all my Disney bounding pieces in my suitcase as well. And then I think the last thing that's sort of more run-related that's in my suitcase is to have some breakfast foods that we just to make sure that I'm having a breakfast that I'm used to, again, to just like do what you practice. Uh-huh. I know that we can do a grocery order, and we've done that several times, and it's super awesome. But seriously, like I'm bringing my bagels and my peanut butter from home because things are just like things just taste a little different in the US. I know it's that's maybe a little over the top, but well, also it was just to have the convenience of having it because you're getting up at 2 30 in the morning and so bam, right? You've you've got your food right there. Yes. Like, so why not? If you we're if you're gonna check a bag at the airport anyhow, why not throw in the bagels that you enjoy? Well, I mean, you can also order them. Like you could get a grocery order and still get bagels and peanut butter and stuff. And I guess we did do a grocery order. Yes, I think so. Yeah, we did because uh well, because I also am a little particular about water, and I'm you know, like city water tastes this way, and uh so we ordered a jug of water so I could fill up my race, my my hydration pack with the jug of water. That's true. Yeah, I guess we did do a grocery order, but then I had a few things that were just little comforts from home that I knew I would like to eat before the race. And so that's what I have in my suitcase, Emily. What's in yours? Well, you know, there's obviously your typical whatever you're gonna wear to the parks and your your shorts and t-shirts and all of that. But just like you, I bring extra running shoes that are only for the race, compared to the shoes that I would have, like my flip-flops for the pool or the walking shoes for the park or whatever. But beyond my usual Disney related packing, I also I have brought, especially, you know, when you're doing the the challenge, like say the dopey or the goofy or something, I even packed a Ziploc sandwich bag of Epsom salts in my suitcase. And let me tell you, I was really worried about that because it looks really suspicious when you have a plastic bag of white powder. But anyhow, I'm pretty sure they're they've got a sophisticated way of telling the chemistry of what that white powder is. And so I didn't get, you know, pulled aside or anything, but I did bring Epson salts in case I needed to have a bath in between races. And along the same lines as that, I brought um some ice packs, like those flexible ones that you can kind of wrap around. So, because again, I have you know problems with sometimes with my knees or my or my joints and my toes and things. So I brought uh ice packs. I don't know how how useful it was because why not just go to like an ice machine and and get it, but I guess I overpack. Other than the things that you've mentioned, oh I sometimes bring biofreeze gel, or I don't know what what you would call it, but like you know, to soothe your muscles. Yeah, Voltairan or something. Yeah, 535. I bring some of that and Body Glide, which you mentioned, but just for any chafing points. So I do have band-aids and a little toiletries kit with a little first aid, but good to know that you bring one on the run. I didn't know that, so probably gonna hit you up next time. But I also make sure that before I leave for my vacation, I make sure I, you know, trend my toenails and things, but I do bring a nail file with me because you don't want any anything like that's really pointy, because after running for hours, that can really yeah, you can get bobby toes. After running for hours, it's like the princess and the pea situation. Like any little thing is just this m crazy mountain of pain or irritation or whatever. And I do pack a couple of little Advil tablets, but that's just in case I don't usually take them, but just in case of muscle soreness. But um, I think that's uh that's about it. But I th I thought it was funny that you were talking about, you know, you bring an extra pair of socks or your extra. I don't know what kind of disaster I think is gonna happen. I know because if I'm there for say five days, I might have 15 pairs of socks and underwear with me. Like, what do I think? Like, am I gonna get stuck? I don't know. That's a little exciting. Okay, maybe that's a little bit too much, but I have more than I need, like definitely more than I need. Because it's like, I don't know, you get caught in one of those Florida thunderstorms and you get soaking wet. Well, you don't want to walk around with you know, you're wet under those, so you gotta switch them out. Like or you go on Splash Mountain and you know, you get a soaker. So I don't know what I'm thinking, but it's just just in case. You never know when you're gonna need 15 pairs of underwear on a five-day trip. It's not like you can't like either air them out or do laundry there, too. I know, anyway. I know, and having said all of that, like there's things that we've mentioned that we could purchase at the race expo. Oh, race expo or even just the the little convenience store in the hotel that you're staying at. Like you can as long as really the basics that when I when I leave for the airport, I say to myself, okay, do I have my passport, my visa card, and my phone? And if I do, okay, let's go. Because everything else I could I mean, it'll be inconvenient perhaps to get. And expensive. And expensive perhaps to get. But I could buy there. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's not the end of the world. There's a running store at Disney Springs. You could get stuff from, you know. Or you take a cab to the nearest, like fit to run, or whatever those the stories are. Yeah. Yeah. You can totally buy it all there. All right. Well, I guess that's everything that's in our suitcases and our run belts. Folks, you've made it to the final stretch. It's time for a magic minute. This is where we're gonna share some fun Disney facts. Okay, Emily, did you know that Tron light cycle run tops out at 97 kilometers per hour? Whoa, that is fast. That is a 0.62 minutes per kilometer pace or 37 seconds per kilometer, which means that if you ran your next 5k at Tron speed, you'd be done in three minutes. You would finish before the pre-show even ends. No wonder it's so exhilarating. Okay, I have a fun fact for you. I kind of like that yours was kind of sciencey, a little bit physics, but I've got a little science-y one for you. Did you know that the tree of life at Disney's Animal Kingdom reportedly has over 300 animals carved in it? No, I haven't counted them myself because I would lose count trying. So I had to look that one up. And some sources say I even saw reports of 325 or 337, but anyhow, over 300 animals carved in it. The tree is supposed to represent the biodiversity of life on Earth, and that tree, or at least the model it is modeled after, is called the Baobab tree, which is a species of tree that grows in Africa, Australia, and Madagascar. And these trees can live over a thousand years and more. Imagine that. Wow. That's a lot. Amazing. Okay, well, that's it for this episode of Rope Drop and Run.
